Rain or Shine!

Today we found out that the Bountiful Braves play rain or shine!  We have been having the craziest weather in Utah the past few days (even a tornado!) and it rained all day long on Friday.  When I woke up Saturday morning it was still raining so I wondered if Sean's game would be cancelled.  My sister told me they play no matter what the weather is!  Luckily, it stopped raining just before his game started and it was actually really nice because the air smelled so clean and it wasn't that cold.  The Bountiful Braves played the Brighton Bengals and it was a tough game.  It doesn't really matter to me who wins because I just like watching Sean!  He had another great tackle!  At first we weren't sure if it was Sean who got the tackle but then we looked over at my brother-in-law (who keeps stats on the players for the team) and he had a big smile on his face so we knew it was him!
He was a little bit bummed that they didn't win so he gave me the "perfunctory smile."
When I started talking to him about his tackle, he gave me a better smile (pictured above!).

Another Football Saturday

It looks like I will be watching football every Saturday morning this fall! I have next Friday off and I was contemplating going out of town but then I remembered that Sean would have a game the next day and I don't want to miss it!  I don't know what it is but going to his games is so much fun!  I think it is because football is synonymous with fall and fall is my favorite time of year or maybe it is because Sean is getting to be so good at football!  Whatever the reason, my family was sitting on the sideline once again yesterday to see the Bountiful Braves take on the Cyprus Pirates.  Sean played both offense and defense in this game so he was on the field a lot!  The game was tied with two touchdowns apiece but Cyprus scored in the last few minutes to win.  It was a tough loss but Sean still gave me a smile at the end of the game!
We are so proud of our Number 98!

Sean the Bomb

Watching Sean play football is becoming one of my favorite things to do!  Yesterday the Bountiful Braves played the Bingham Miners and, even though they lost 21-7, it was a great game.  Bingham is a tough team and the Braves had some great plays, including another spectacular tackle by number 98!  Here are some pictures from the game.

A Big Win!

Sean was all smiles after his game against the Hunter Wolverines!
Yesterday Sean's team played the Hunter Wolverines and it was a great game!  He was really down after his game last week so his parents talked to him about being positive.  When he came off the field after his first play he had a big smile on his face and said that he thought he had done his best!  Sean, and the whole team, played so well and as the game went on they fed off of the energy and kept getting better and better!  It was so much fun to watch!  In the first half, the Braves scored two touchdowns and Sean had his first tackle (and his first personal foul!).  In the second half, they got an interception and eventually scored two more touchdowns to win the game 26-0.  Sean earned the nickname "Sean the Bomb" in this game and we love it!  As much fun as watching Sean was, I think my favorite moment was when the Bountiful coaches all got in trouble.  The referee (who was kind of a jerk) started yelling at one of the coaches and then dramatically threw a flag on the field after the fact.  The head coach had to have a conference with the ref and came back and told the other coaches to tone it down.  We thought it was so funny!  I also really enjoyed the community around the team.  All of parents and families are so friendly and have started talking to us.  When Sean got his big tackle, all of the parents around us cheered and congratulated us and when he made another big play the Mom sitting next to me asked me if I got a picture.  Now that the team has gelled a little bit, I am really looking forward to watching the Braves every week (even though I have to get up early on a Saturday!).  The whole family took the star out to breakfast to celebrate his win and he grinned from ear to ear the whole time!  Here are some pictures from the game.

Note:  It was a little hard for me not to cheer for the Wolverines, especially since I had spent Friday night cheering for the HHS Wolverines!  I had to make sure I wasn't wearing any Hunter apparel because I have so much of it! (I just ordered a Bountiful Braves shirt).

Go Braves!

Yesterday was Sean's first official game of Little League football.  His team, the Bountiful Braves, played the Woods Cross Wildcats.  The Wildcats are a really tough team and, despite some great plays by the Braves (including a great interception), they ended up losing.  We had fun watching the game any way because Sean is so adorable.  He always helps the player he tackles get back up again!  I think his coaches are intense and I didn't like it when they would yell at him!  Sean is hard on himself and I could see him getting more and more dejected as the game went on even though I thought he did really well.  I definitely need to toughen up before next week's game!  Here are some candid shots from the game.

Note:  I am now going to have to get up early on Saturday mornings to watch his games!  Clearly, I love this kid!
